PLC Monitoring in the Cloud

Connect your PLCs to real-time cloud dashboards via IoT gateways. Visualize PLC data, set smart alerts, and monitor from any device — without exposing your PLCs to the internet.

What is PLC monitoring?

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are the workhorses of industrial automation. They control everything from conveyor belts and motors to entire production lines. But traditionally, accessing PLC data requires being physically present at the control panel or connected to the local HMI network.

PLC monitoring software bridges this gap by reading data from your PLCs and making it available in cloud-based dashboards. This means operations managers, maintenance engineers, and plant supervisors can see what is happening on the factory floor from anywhere — their office, their home, or on the road.

With Logable, PLC data flows through an IoT gateway on your local network, gets published securely over MQTT, and appears in real-time dashboards that you can access from any web browser or mobile device.

How Logable connects to PLCs

Logable uses a gateway-based architecture to bridge your PLCs to the cloud. Your PLCs never need a direct internet connection.

Gateway-based — not direct

Logable does not connect directly to your PLCs over the internet. Instead, an IoT gateway on your local network reads PLC data using standard industrial protocols like Modbus RTU (serial) or Modbus TCP (Ethernet). The gateway then publishes this data to Logable over MQTT with TLS encryption. This architecture keeps your PLCs isolated from the internet while still providing full cloud visibility. The gateway initiates all connections outbound — no firewall ports need to be opened.

What you get with PLC monitoring

Real-time dashboards, smart alerts, mobile access, and secure connectivity — everything you need to monitor PLCs from the cloud.

Real-Time PLC Dashboards

Visualize PLC data as it arrives with live-updating charts, gauges, and industrial widgets. Build custom dashboard layouts that map to your physical process.

Smart Alerts on PLC Metrics

Set threshold, status change, rate-of-change, and compound alert conditions on any PLC metric. Get notified via email or in-app inbox the moment something needs attention.

Mobile Access

Monitor PLC data from your phone or tablet. The Logable mobile app gives you full dashboard access and push notifications wherever you are.

Secure Device Tokens

Each gateway connection uses revocable auth tokens with fine-grained access control. Rotate credentials without downtime or reconfiguration.

Multi-Device Views

Combine data from multiple PLCs on a single dashboard. Compare production lines, monitor distributed equipment, and get a unified operational picture.

Cloud-Native Architecture

No on-premises servers to maintain. Data flows from your PLC through the gateway to Logable's cloud infrastructure, accessible from any browser.

Works with any Modbus-capable PLC

If your PLC supports Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP communication, an IoT gateway can read its registers and send the data to Logable. This includes PLCs from major manufacturers:

Siemens
Allen-Bradley
Schneider Electric
ABB
Beckhoff

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about PLC monitoring with Logable.

Logable connects to PLCs via IoT gateways. The gateway sits on your local network, reads data from your PLCs using industrial protocols like Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP, and publishes it to Logable over MQTT. This gateway-based approach means no direct internet exposure for your PLCs.
