# Forecasts (https://logable.app/docs/reference/forecasts)

Which device types get a depletion estimate, what it reads, and when Logable declines to estimate.

For a device type that supports it, Logable estimates when stock reaches empty. The estimate shows on the device's own page.

| Device type | Metric | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Silo | weight | Estimates when stock reaches empty. Target: the usableFloor configuration field, 0 if unset. Only while weight is falling. |
| Water Tank | level | Estimates when water reaches empty. Target: the usableFloor configuration field, 0 if unset. Only while level is falling. |

## When there is no estimate [#when-there-is-no-estimate]

Logable needs about two days of readings before it will estimate. It also needs a clear falling trend, and a fit that matches the readings closely enough. Without these, the device page shows no estimate rather than a bad one.

A refill resets the estimate. Logable waits for a new falling trend before it estimates again.

## Not covered [#not-covered]

A dam has no forecast. A dam's level depends on inflow and rainfall, and a level sensor cannot see either one.
